Why consider a pearl pigment?

Conventional colourants mainly provide colour. Pearl pigments use flat, metal-oxide-coated mica flakes to reflect light. As coated seeds move under changing light, the flakes can produce a visible shimmer that helps a specialty batch stand apart.
